Measurable Student Learning Outcomes

1.   Distinguish among a number of major factors and trends in changing communication technologies.

While learning about other cultures online, participate in a chat room, discussion board, and another Global Learning Project (GLP).

3.   Analyze his/her audience, organize ideas in a logical, persuasive way, support his/her points with details and examples, and draft an appropriate document for each incident.

When communicating (via e-mail, discussion board, or chatting) with an expert to learn more about a culture, analyze your "audience" to communicate effectively.  Also, organize your ideas in a logical, persuasive way, support your questions with details and examples.

8.   Write effective requests, replies, and goodwill messages.  (These are the ones that apply to this project.)

Your written communications need to be effective.  Make sure that your requests, replies, and goodwill messages send the message that you intend.

11. Examine current innovations in business communication.

Today’s technologies (online chat, blogs, wikis, discussion boards, online phone with cameras and microphones, etc.) are current innovations in business communication.  Students will be using these new innovations. See some of these free tools by clicking here.

12. Analyze international business communication and develop a cultural sensitivity for foreign nations.

Students will communicate with others who have at least done business with the specific culture the student will write an informational report and PowerPoint presentation about.  The informational presentation will demonstrate that the student have developed a cultural sensitivity for that particular culture and that they are sharing this information with others.
